"Live your own life, for you shall die your own Death!" - A Roman proverb I believe.
I have been in this situation, and definitely say go for what you want, otherwise you shall waste a few years of your life doing something that you don't like and you will live in misery! It could be that your mother won't like it at first but she will forget about very soon.
But anyway, do a good research on all your options before you choose the profession! Consult graduates on future salaries, working hours, benefits, happiness at work etc.
Good Luck!

This is your life at the end of the day, and you know what you would like to do with it. I am a Mother who has gone through the University bit, I left the choice to my Children, but helped if it was necessary. It is not for Parents to interfer just to support. Hope all goes well

I know some people who took up particular line of education because their parents insisted and later they realised its just not for them and regretted wasting so many years and hard work on something they didnt want to do in the first place!
Pls dont be one of them
Sit her down and talk to your mom, be kind not argumentative or rude, just tell her what you need to do and what your inclinations and interess are.
good luck and i do hope that if you convince her to let you study your choice then you put your 110% in it and prove it to her that you were right in your choice.
:)

From experience, you need to choose what is best for you. It will be you who will being the work, not your mother. So you need to be happy with your choice and your work. That does not mean that what your mother is saying is completely off the mark. I have found it is best to at least consider what is being said and not to discount it straight away. In the end, YOU need to choose what YOU want.
Good luck.

Do what YOU want to, its your life. Bear in mind that medicine and English teaching are two completely different disciplines and chances are if you're suited to one you won't be much good at the other. These are both good careers, its not as if either of these are dropout options, she'll be proud no matter which one you do.

Do what you want to do.
You're the one that has to do the study and live with the consequences.
You're mum should have no say over it. She can't live her life through you and if she's got regrets about her own life, you shouldn't have to suffer because of it.
If she's got unfulfilled dreams, maybe you should suggest that she go back to college and study as well.

While your Mum always has your best interest at heart, she can't live her life through you. You must do what will make you happy in the end as you have to live your life, not her. As long as you work hard, are successful and happy, she'll come round!

Do what you want to do. Being a mother myself, I know we want what we see as the best for our children. Sadly we aren't always right.
i would rather see my own children happy in some dead end job than miserable as a "rocket scientist".

both are great rewarding subjects that lead to rewarding jobs .
you need to make the choice for you as this effects your whole life !
make your mum understand that you'll be the best in whatever you do and its stress full enough without the added pressure of trying to please her .
i wont tell you which one to choose , but good luck in your education and life choice ..

Always remember that its your life and it is important that the final decision is yours. It is wise to take advice but you must at the end of the day live with your job.
