Well, first let me say that I blame myself for this. I got greedy, and swallowed the bait.

There is a photographer who is very hot and collectible, Disfarmer. His pictures are fetching some pretty fancy prices these days. He did his body of work in rural Arkansas back in the 30s, 40s, and 50s, based in an ordinary portrait studio. There is still a lot of his work out there, sitting in people's attics and garages, and one can assume that many of the people that have these works are unaware of the value of them.

This is where I come in. I saw a Disfarmer photo up for grabs on E Bay at a very reasonable price.....actually waaaaaay too reasonable, say ten cents on the dollar. I had not done my homework, so I didn't really know what to look for to determine authenticity. I just got a bad case of the greedys, and bid on the picture. I got what I thought to be an 800 to1200 dollar picture for forty dollars.

Once I got the picture, I did a little research, and to make a long story short, it was a fake, and not even a good one. I dropped a note to E Bay, and let it go at that.

My other 160 or so purchases on E Bay have been trouble free.

I have had a few nightmares on e bay - one is still going on now, I bought a phone/answer machine which was supposed to be new but the handset was really manky, then you can't record your own messages and now my answerphone has packed up only had it 3 mths but supposed to have a 12mth guarantee. I have called the co but they say gotta correspond by e-mail but hey no response and ebay wont do anything as it's purchased over three mths ago. Also have just bought a freeview box that doesn't work which took 3 wks to arrive the remote was filthy, the box has scratches all over it, it's supposed to be new, the pins inside the scart plug are all bent - can't get a refund until I pay all postage which is over £10 and wont get that back. Also have had nightmare's with paypal - you try to speak to someone who can understand you - they are murder!!! anything else?

2 bad experiences -

One is disputing an item not received - a sweater that was supposed to come from USA and still hasn't arrived 2 months on...

The other was working out that a buyer had a second account which they were using to bid on their items for sale to hike up the prices. Ebay didn't take me seriously at first, til I showed them all the evidence - now they have been struck off.

This really happens alot and my advice is to check this out thoroughly. If you are bidding for an item against someone with a feedback score of 5 or less, this is likely to be the seller's 2nd Ebay account. You can check by looking at the feedback pages, what they have bought from whom and you can check on the seller's feeback page also > click on the item number > click on the bidding history and check who has been bidding.

Don't let them rip you off!

I rather have had a pair of undesirable studies on eBay, yet for the main section it extremely is been reliable. I rather have offered various issues off eBay. PayPal is super... on no account a controversy with them. information: --whilst paying for on eBay, i visit no longer purchase something from all and sundry who refuses to apply PayPal. I have been given scammed from somebody who could in elementary terms take funds orders. --continuously look on the corporate's rankings in the previous you put in a bid. It helps to be careful!

On the whole ebay is great!

I have had only one bad experience. I wanted to buy a small punch bag. I paid but it didn't arrive. Cos i'd paid with paypal, I was able to get my money back. The seller apologised saying that his best friend had commited suicide so he hadn't had time to post the item. By that time I had already leaf tbad feedback.

i sold a phone and was left neg feedback after i accidentally forgot to send the manual, didn't even contact me to say hey you forgot the manual so i thought sod it you can do without and it knocked my 100% feedback.

Also had a problem with bloke, my cheque bounced as there was 9p too little in my account so i get charged £30 pounds he reckons he could not cash it i told him you could cash the cheque up to 3 times. so he started sending threatening e-mails saying someone was gonna come round and sort me out so i told them that the e-mails and the Christmas card with this on had been handed over to the Police and i never heard anymore from him

I don't know about worst, but I know about the grossest. I won a limited edition Lancome cream blush and had been hunting for this sucker for months. I finally won a "brand new in box" blush and when I opened it, it had the worlds biggest thumb/fingerprint in it. Like whoever sold it to me was like, "pretty" and then they pressed their ogre-like digit into it so that I would know they cared or something...why??? I just want to scream that if any part of your body has touched it, then it is not new in box...grrrr...creepy big-fingered people...

Not too bad for me.I always make sure the sellers are 100 percent positive.I know I bought something once and it took ages, had to write to the guy several times, didn't hear a thing, eventually I gave him a deadline, and it worked, got my item within days.

Nothing really awful. I bought a DVD from some guy who never sent it and took off with the money. Wasn't much but really pissed me off.
Otherwise it's been awesome. Had some great bargains and dealt with great people.
