Every time I see my friend, she keeps saying "bless you" in a very patronising way. For example, if I find something funny, she'll say, "Bless her" and when I showed her a photo of me at my friends' wedding, she said, "Oh, bless her". If I tell her a story, which I may share with her if it is amusing, she'll again say "Bless you, love".

Why is this?

Ask her not us. It's not a rude question? It's not offensive...it's curious.
"I'm just wondering...why do you say bless you all the time?"
"What do you mean by that?"
And then remember the good ol' "I feel" statement.
"When you _______ I feel ______ would you please _______ (not say that to me anymore unless I sneeze or you become a priest).

Stand up...I hate those stupid games people sometimes play...you have to call her on it or she will continue to mock you in front of your face and that...it's just not okay!

Good luck!

Bless you....
LOL

It's her way of saying "aww isnt that cute, bless" yes it can get patronising, why don't you ask her nicely not to say, or not as often at least.
Explain how it makes you feel, if shes a real freind she'll understand.
Take care sweetie

Different upbringing....probably from a good christian home. She's just used to hearing it over and over. Canadians end every other sentence with "eh?" Some people say bless you and bless her. Others may say f*ck you or f*ck her. Depends on who you hang around with and what everyone else says. What does she say after you sneeze? LOL

i don't think its meant in a patronising manner .
its a expression of nice , love and caring .
is your Friend older than you cause if so its a way of her showing she looks after you and finds you funny .
if its annoying you , tell her .
if not take it as a compliment .
bless you for asking a sensible question .....

My advice is to simply tell her to stop that at once !!!! If tha fails then next time she says bless you or bless her or whatever, just say damn it. That should bribg things back to a more neutral ground.

a bit obsessed with the word i guess

or maybe she just loves her voice !

you may want to tell her gently that her 'bless' words are getting a bit annoying !

She might not mean it in the way it comes accross. I'ld just tell her it irritates you and ask her to stop. I had a friend who always poked me and it drove me mad, I asked her, nicely, to stop, no probs. It's only a little irritant, she shouldn't really get too het up if it bothers you.

When people are stuck for words they usually say the same thing every time. Me, I always say "Oh Fkk"

uh...maybe asking god to bless you for being funny or sharing something nice/funny with her? term for appreciating you maybe? i don't think it's a term normally used for negativity. it seems to be the opposite of damn you.
