I am preparing for a school debate with the motion:

"The young generation of today are less responsible."

I'd appreciate it very much if you could kindly help me by furnishing me points for both the Government and the Opposition.

Thanks a lot.

Responsibility is not an innate personality trait, it is a learned skill. Adults are not teaching the youth of today to take personal responsibilty for their actions. For the government, criminals can now blame their upbringing, their biology, and the victims character as excuses for their behavior. For the idea that kids are more responsible or just a responsible as they have been in the past, remember child labor laws were only created in the last century. Before the 20th century, the idea that children were supposed to be anything but little adults was practically unheard of. And on a personal level my family comes from a rural area, so all the children had jobs that had to be done to keep the farm running.

because parents remember the rebellious behaviour they went through as a teenager and try to tie down kids so that they don't make the same mistakes...this is havign the opposite effect of children of today because they want to experience everything (it is only natural) and are not allowed, so they becoem irresponsible and make silly decisions because they havent been allowed to make reasonable ones in the first place...

on the other hand the young generation of today re more responsible because they are working and finishing educations, and learnign how to take care of themselves alot early than their parents did because of the demands society has placed on them. For example once you turn 18, everything is up to you and the majority of your teenage years is in preparation for when you turn 18 and if kids weren't responsible then within the last few years the entire world would have been in shambles because kids are "irresponsible." Alot of parents of today seem to be less interested in what their children are doign and hand over the responsibility of adulthood without even blinking an eye, so kids are forced to grow up quickly and learn what is acceptable and how to take any consequences for their actions.

just a few points to get you started...good luck!

Cos of irresponsible educator. Now days all educator doesn't seems to care whether the message in lessons is adaptive to their students or not as long as they do their part and thats it. With a plus from living environment I guess that is a big point to contribute in the whole image of the youngster today.

Because their parents bail them out when they get in trouble.

Back in the day, parents would side with the teacher or the police, now they side with their kids.
