I can't think of the proper name you're wanting. I know there was a specific name for the infamous happy face (it was from the late 60s or 70s, right?). I found this website (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smiley) but according to that website it was just called smiley and associated with the phrase "Have a Happy (or Nice) Day!" I'll keep looking. I found this too. http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a4_031.html It's kind of interesting if you're really into this.
