Innocence is a quality by which one by nature does not know the intricacies of a thing due to lack of sufficient experience. It is normally used for children who lack experience due to age factor and not due to lack of opportunity. But ignorance is lack of knowledge due to incapacity or lack of opportunity. It can happen to any one at any stage of life. Innocence is a virtue and at times looked at as purity in character. But ignorance is not desirable so far as a human being is concerned since the very purpose of life itself is to learn and reform through experience of self as well as others. Innocence in law means lack of knowledge and motive behind an alleged offense. It is actually ignorance fortified as a defense.

Innocence is not doing something although you may very well know a lot about it and even wish to try it. Remaining innocent may take a lot of will power
Ignorence is not acknowledging that something is occuring or happens. It requires less will power to ignore something.

They are largely the same. "Ignorance" is the condition of not having, or not being aware of information, or a better way. This is an "innocent" condition - that of simply not knowing any better.
"Stupid", on the other hand, is knowing better and choosing to act ignorantly anyway.
Ignorance is excusable, it can be fixed.
Stupid is a choice.

Good question! I think that innocence is being unaware of the seamier side of life and all its ramifications and ignorance is not knowing things that at your age and station in life, a person should know (such as manners, etc.).

it depends on how its used. Innocence is usually used in reference to children or the young who have not had many experiences in life, or for crime and justice (as in innocent or guilty) whereas ignorance can be used to describe someone who is not interested in learning or who is rude and uncaring. It can also be used to describe lack of information or knowledge.

being innocent, young, without experience...we all had our time of innocence...someway days we like to remember...
being ignorant is by our own choice to not be involved in the world around us...it is our choice not to grow, not to learn, not to know... we are born innocent, we choose to be ignorent..
