It depends on the average age.
If the average age is 75 years and retirement age is 65, then about 16-18 years go in education including school and college, 43-45 years go in employment and the rest in retirement, 14-16 while retiring.

School : 22-25%
Employment: 57-60%
Retirement: 18%

Again this is variable according to the no of college years, retiring age and average age globally.

its way less than 50 percent...if you think about it...you are only in school for a certain number of years...and you have many years of your life after your done with schooll...but i dont actually know the percentage
