I find that women often are portrayed as more accepting of gay men than straight men are; however, I find that when women candidly speak their minds they are oftentimes even more hateful and cruel towards gay men than straight men are. Women just tend to keep their thoughts to themselves and rarely would say them directly to a gay man, instead only making comments in the company of other straight people. Some of the most hateful comments that I have ever heard about gay men have come from straight women.
I realize that this is a sweeping generalization, but I tend this in a very general way.

what you say may have validity; females do not like competition. The gays are just one more hurdle the women need to get over. So they tend to place the gay into the female category, whether they admit it or not.

I do not agree... Females are more apt to befriend a gay man then a heterosexual man for many reasons but the main one I can think of is a heterosexuals fear... fear if he has a gay friend people will assume he is also gay, or fear of the unknown ( maybe a gay guy will hit on them or embarrass him in front of his other friends or even make a false claim that he was involved in some type of sexual act with them) This is just a brief idea of some of the issues heterosexual males have with gay males... Woman don't have to worry about these issues so much... the only women I have seen first hand be straight out mean and or abusive to a gay guy is a lesbian... and ive seen that happen countless times... I'm sure there are many straight women that have issues with aggression towards homosexuals I just haven't seen it at the level you have... I guess part of that may have to do with where people live... and other factors... alot ( I did not say ALL ) of women don't really require a legitimate reason to be bitchhie.... catch one at the wrong time of the month and all you have to do is breath in the wrong tone of voice LOL Have you been out stealing straight women's men?? LOL joking

For me, I do adore gay men but not flamboyantly gay men. I have no problem with lesbian relationships or male homosexual relationships...unless it is over done and they are trying to make the straight population accept them. I understand that there are a lot of people who cannot accept others having this lifestyle but I think whatever makes you happy, makes you happy.

It is my feeling that the reason women could have a difference in feelings between gay men and gay women may be a woman thing. Women of all sexual types can have very close and somewhat intimate relationship with other women without being homosexual since we are filled with estrogen and it makes us more relationship intensive. Therefore woman who aren't truly okay with homosexuality may be more accepting of lesbian relationships because they have a better understanding of the connection women have with each other. There is definitely a difference between non-homosexual same sex male and female relationships. Women tend to very close; discussing everything with each other and being affectionate when it is needed but men do not. As you are being general in your question, I am being general in my answer.

this is what I think I have learned about women and gay men

1. they like gay guys because there is no sexual pressure
2. they like gay guys because they want to have a lot of male "friends". like someone to tell them if their hair is right or if their skirt is too short; in a guys view.
3. But if their gay male friend doesn't always make them happy, well, they are not that different from me having a female friend.

What I mean by #3 is that women are more emotional and verbal; and so they really do mouth off a lot more than most men. I think women can be really horrible because i have been hurt in my simple friendships with them....

Women can definately be a lot harsher tham men; i'm sticking with my guy for my friend...

This is true. But most of the woman who speaks out against the gay man, is the "Gay hog!" They are the women who think that gay men are stilling their men!

Baby he's gay! There's no playing around with this one!

Most women are delusional when it comes to a fine guy who just so happens to act very masculine, and then turns and kisses they guy standing to him!

I'm just being true.

I can only speak for myself, although I'm not sure if I agree, but I have no problem with gay men. I have a lot of good friends who are gay. Whatever floats your boat and tickles your pickle! I assumed many women like gay men because they make great girlfriends! Hell, better than str8 girl sometimes!

Are you the guy that used to go by the name "Balmoral"???

I think women are just upset about men being gay because it's less men for them to choose from.

I have heard this from women;
"All the good men are already married or gay"

:o)
