This website explains a bit for California:
http://www.guidetopsychology.com/be_psy.htm

"Note that according to psychology licensing law in California, psychologist is a generic term; there is technically no such thing in California as a “child psychologist” or a “neuropsychologist,” or a “criminal psychologist.” If you want to practice psychology with children, for example, you can specialize academically in child psychology, but your license will be simply “psychologist.” So, regardless of your intended specialty, you will have to follow the same basic path to your license as any other person aspiring to be a psychologist. Of course, locations outside California may have other laws about the practice of psychology—or no laws at all."

added: If you mean becoming a pediatric (a doctor with a pedeatic residency) psychologist, then you have to become a doctor first the pediatrician...

Basically you can do your undergrad in psychology, then go to medical school and do your residency in pediatric. Pay would be same as doctors.

newborn psychology actually exists. it may be the same course as a customary psychologist focusing on childrens' unique psychological makeup. it is no longer "dumbed down" psychology practice - if something, it is more effective complicated because the consumers are so weak and any interventions made might want to have some distance longer attaining impacts. As for salaries and preparation, anticipate similar ranges, possibly more effective given the specialization. an rather good type of teaching in different words, yet a powerful distinctiveness given the ability effect. Psychiatric sufferers in adulthood have an rather good type of preset options which aren't person-friendly to undo - fix a baby's subject matters early, and the payoff is considerable in skill.
