See a doctor get an xray it could be a small fracture.Bones in the feet can break easy by slamming the foot down on concrete. Also the uric acid level is important. This is what is called gout and tends to concentrate pain in one of the big toes. Hope that helps.

Probably plantar fascitis. I have this. You probably have flat feet or "fallen arches". The tendon on the bottom of your foot stretches all day long and then when you go to bed it goes back into a contracted position. Then when you wake up and stand it re-stretches causing microscopic tears. This will eventually lead to a heel spur if left untreated. See a foot doctor. You may need to be fitted for arch supports.

I'm leaning towards the fallen arches theory people are presenting. Have you ever heard of a shoe insert called Superfeet? I'm 56 and I wasn't having any problems with my feet at all. But one day, I was in a shoe store needing an insert and I allowed the salesman to sell me a pair of Superfeet. They cost me TWENTY-SIX DOLLARS! That's the generous type of mood I was in. But then I put them into my shoes and it just blew my mind. I knew my life had just changed RADICALLY AND COMPLETELY!!! You have no idea how great these things are. You feel like you're flying or at the very least, taking ten foot leaps with every step.
Don't buy any of that gel crap...gellen like a felon or Dr. Scholls. They're all bogus. Get Superfeet on eBay.

Before you spend money on a doctor try buying some good orthotics at the drug store and buy some good support running shoes, ones with a "roll-bar". If you have flat feet or or slightly flat feet this will help a lot. If it doesn't fix your problem go to someone who makes orthotics to fit your feet.

Maybe you don't have enough arch support. Visit a podiatrist to determine the problem. As an athlete, you can't afford to damage your feet. Your arches may also be falling - this can be painful.

If the hurt is like a muscle cramp, then it could be a sign that you are becoming dehydrated. Try drinking more water. If this doesn't help, please do go see your doctor. Also, if they feel numb, there might be a problem with your circulation.
