Something doesn't make sense here.

Always having a skeptical attitude concerning polictics, scientific data that "promises" to have "proof". Someone who is searching for the concrete proof not based on hearsay. For example: The big bang theory and the creation of the world according to the bible. Skeptical attitude would surmise that the big bang theory is based on some evidence of scientific evidence such as fossils, or hypothesizing according to evidence on hand. Creation theory on the other hand, is based on a belief system, "faith" that something bigger, unexplainable has a "hand" in creating the world. Someone with a skeptical personality would not accept either of these theories since both are based on hypothesis and faith. Hope this wasn't too confusing.....Good luck on your assignment.

Basically, it means to never trust what you hear/see..and always question if it is true.

For example, your friend claimed to see a UFO- but you don't believe in such things- and thus you're skeptical he/she actually saw it.

It means that you're holding off since you don't believe what you're hearing/seeing.

If she's skeptical about the time her friend called her - she doesn't really believe that her friend called her.
