I'm bipolar so I tend to be both, depending on what mood I'm in at the time. I can be very compulsive for example when I'm planning a vacation. I make detailed lists of everything that needs to be done at the house before I leave (stop newspaper/mail deliveries, care for pets, pay bills ahead of time,etc.). Then there are the lists of what needs to be packed--for every person going with me. There are lists for things that need to be done for the car (oil change, gas, check tires, wiper blades, etc). The lists can go on forever. And don't even get me started with Christmas!

When I'm more manic, I tend to be very impulsive--which can cause problems in itself. I've made many purchases I didn't need or even want, but felt the urge to have. Sometimes I would just go wild buying presents for friends and family. Impulsiveness was a problem when I was dating because I would agree to go out with guys I really didn't like or care about, but would hear myself agreeing to a date. Usually I went through with it because I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings and thought maybe I'd have a good time anyway.

Even though I've been on meds for a very long time, these episodes still occur. I have to be more vigilant then and ask myself why I'm feeling this way.

I wouldn't change, though. It gives a certain excitement to my life that I rather enjoy.

I am definately a thinker moreso than a doer.

I would rather plan and sceme instead of jumping headlong into something.

Keep in mind - thinkers are not good doers. I find that if I think too much about an opportunity, it'll get away from me. Then I think up some excuses why I didn't need that opportunity anyway.

It's healthy to have a mix of the two. Spontaneity is the spice of life.

PLAN! I absolutely hate impulsive moves. Plan plan and plan some more.

I think I am both. Some things need to be planned but sometimes you just have to have fun.

i assume most are doers..
i too am one of them,
but most of the times you cannot be that way because you tend to lose out things... better to plan.
