The only reason I can think of is that the body doesn't absorb iron well when taken with milk. Since prenatal vitamins contain iron and since it is very important that a pregnant woman get as much iron in her diet as possible, that is probably the reason.

milk will inhibit the absorbtin of the iron into the blood system. To a lesser extent, to do milk products. The iron is propbably one of the most important minerals for a pregnant woman, and you should increase all your chances of being able to absorb the mineral properly. As it is, being that the mineral is in an unnatural state, the absorbtion of it is not 100% as most people would like to think. You should also try get iron from other, natural sources.
Good luck!

Most Pregnant women have food sickness, they dislike some foods they usually took when not yet pregnant, this may cause you not to take vitamins together with milk, because if you get sick with milk then you will just throw up your Vit.and wasted it.
But no such Vitamins that can not be taken with milk. It's your choices of food intake during pregnancy.

not sure about the milk thing, although i can tell you from experience that i could never take them with milk, cereal.. etc... some women find that their prenatal vitamins make them sick... i am one who could never take them without puking them up a few minutes later... the doc said if you have a problem taking prenatals then you can take flintstones vitamins or something along those lines...

Yup~ this is because the calcium makes it harder for the prenatel vitamins to absorb into the body~ so your better off taking it with water or juice~

Thats wierd she would say that. My doctor told me to take them either with a snack or a big glass of milk. Maybe it just upset her stomach but I seem to be just fine.
