The 1961 Yankees were the best team ever. In 1976 the first ever computer generated seven game series was played between the 1927 Yankees and the 1961 Yankees. The 1961 team won the series 4 games to 1. Enough said!!
Consideration should be given to the 1998 Yankees (125-50)!!

I'd say the 1927 Yankees. From what I've read, they had it all, power, speed, defense, and great pitching. Hard to beat, Ruth and Gehrig.
Second, I'd pick the 1998 Yankees, 114-48, and 11-2 in the postseason. They were as good as their record, and won three Word Series in a row.Solid players everywhere.
2004 Red Sox? They didn't even win the division!! They won the wild card and lucked out in the postseason.

The 27 Yankees have always been regarded as the best ever and they really make a strong point with no weakness on their entire roster led by Ruth and Gehrig and posting a record of 110 wins and 42 losses and a World Series sweep.

Don't really get the point of Q2.
As far as Q1--I go for the vastly overlooked 1929 Phil A's. An Oakland A's fan myself so slightly prejudiced but what a team!
Best team ever? Can I say that 1929 A's team? If not, I'd say maybe the Big Red Machine of '76.
