One question I asked a while ago came with the response that the US was heavily into, controled and so forth the Alberta oil fields

There are a lot of tough laws on monopolies and foriegn investments and ownership in Canada. To the best of my knowledge most natural reserves like Uranium and oil are held by Crown co-perations so I am thinking it's really unlikely but again how much is the US into Alberta oil?

Petroleum in Canada belongs to the provinces according to the constitution. The companies that are involved in extraction there pay royalties to the province of Alberta. As the tar-sands require hundreds of billions of dollars to develop, investment from all over the world is needed. At present the government of Alberta is trying to encourage more American investment, and is trying to get investors from other countries such as China interested.

It makes no difference if the company is foreign or Canadian owned, it still pays the same royalties as per NAFTA. Again on the east coast the companies involved in the offshore pay royalties to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.

There are US oilfields in Alberta, We don' try to enforce any laws that say different and if we ever did the Free Trade Agreement would ensure that the oil would flow south without hindrance. That or the 82nd Airborne would make sure.
