If he was just bought, he would need to have some de-stress time to adjust to the new environment. (ex. new sounds, smells etc...) What kind of gecko is he? Alot of them are nocturnal, so he may just be coming out at night while you are sleeping. Shedding is also a possibility. Depending on the breed, some will tend to hide more while others have no problem in being out in the open. If he isnt a day gecko and can take being handled pick him up and look him over Make sure he is alert and not weak or lethargic If so then it is definatly time to see a vet

three days is rather long. i recomend you take him out and look for signs of sickness or any reason for it. has he been crapping? what kind of gecko. did the weather change the three days ago? if the weather is dull/colder/overcast than usual then the behavior of yur gecko can be perfectly normal even if the terrarium has lighttubes- he is just sleeping through lousy time. check the temperature and humitity in the terarium, check the heating and the termometer too if they are working properly. if too hot too cold, the reptile will go and hide. have there been more people around the terrarium? maybe he is just shy of strangers or too much activity around him?
you dont mabe a mistake if you offer him a droplet of water in front of the mouth to drink. or some sweet juicy fruit.

Most reptiles retreat to safety when it's ready to molt (shed it's skin). If you haven't had him long and havent' seen the behavior before, that's the most likely cause.
On the other hand, it could be because your gecko is sick which would also cause him to retreat.
Observe him closely, molting behavior typically lasts for a week or two and you'll see his skin begin to peel. If he's sick, chances are you'll need to ask a herpetologist about gecko illnesses.

If your gecko has not moved in 3 days, you should be a little worried. Some reptiles are really active, it just depends on your reptiles personality. If you are a good pet owner you check on your pets every day.

Do you have a heat lamp in it's cage? If not, it may just be cold and trying to stay warm.If that's not it he may be sick or dying even. Maybe you should lift the rock and check on him. I hope it's okay.
