Why does everyone say they like them? I don't think they are anything special, they just kind of revolutionized rock which was good but I still don't think are extremely good.

In the early sixties my sister, who was studying in London at the time, sent me a record. It was The Beatles, "She Loves Me" and along with it she sent me a letter saying how great they were.
I thought she lost her mind. The songs here, especially where I lived in San Francisco were so much better. About that one song I may have been right. Over the years that followed they caught on here as well. By that time I was a believer as well.
Take a closer look at there work. They started out with what we called bubble gum music, "She loves me, Yah, Yah, Yah, and you know that can't be bad" then a howl like someone stepped on their tails "WOOO!!" What's so special about that? Nothing.
I would find myself humming to their other songs sometimes. I attributed this to the same thing that happens when someone whistles Christmas carols at work and you can't get them out of your head for the rest of the day. That sort of thing. Then I started noticing suptle rifts in their songs and different use of the drum beats these guys might have some talent. It must have snuck in under those weird haircuts, or when they tipped their heads when playing. Then I noticed "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". A story told in music. A year later everyone was trying it. Some succeeded and others didn't, but it started with them. Then as the hippy bright color clothes were dying out, and I started listening to songs about important things like love, and the simple things that stood out with someone you care about like the sun reflecting thru some girls hair or how she smiles at the sunrise, and sunset they were putting out songs like "Here Comes The Sun".
Maybe these guys are tapping into my head. My preferred type of music was changing from what we called Acid Rock, (Now it's called Heavy Medal); to country rock because they had feeling there to were the Beatles. They moved in and out of styles at will it seamed.
They were British but seemed to have their finger on the heart beat of America.
This little band with classically trained musicians now had a list of songs that fit into country music, acid rock, rock ballads, and rock opera and more. I even felt that they cared for American Solders who were dying in another war. These guys weren't carrying England thru a war but us. They weren’t singing to a few wild girls in a pub in Liverpool, but singing to things that every person on earth could feel. And they did it well. I was drinking many years ago with some friends and noticed one of them had her eyes closed during one of their songs. She was totally lost in it. She sang as well but totally different style her name was Janis Joplin
Look at there work again.

I presume you're quite young...under 25. If you had lived at the time the Beatles came out and knew the crap that was coming out before them you would probably appreciate them more.
Anything done after 1970 was GREATLY influenced by the Beatles, it may sound like the "same old, same old" now but music like that was just not heard before.
There was a lot of country music (It was called country & western then) and a lot of the Paul Anka type stuff. The Beatles were like a breath of fresh air after that stale garbage.
Hard to explain to the younger crowd what they did exactly but you can be sure that they were cutting edge at that time and really did start the UK revolution. No one came out of UK before that had such a huge impact on N. America and the world.
How many bands do you know now from the UK? dozens I bet...it wasn't always that way and a large part of the world's population are eternally grateful for the Beatles getting "real" music going.

Before the Beatles, American teens kinda hit the bricks by oppresive media censor boards who all but did in Alan Freed's Rock revolution and tamed televising Elvis' Ed Sullivan Show hip gyrations.

After that, censor boards thought they had a real strong handle on what was shown on TV...and were again focusing on radio music airplay.....real American, huh?

Across the pond, The Beatles were to UK music audiences what AC/DC was in the 80s....and word got over to the USA. And with the help of some Alan Freed rebels of Rock patriotism, The Beatles were flown into the US, managed a spot on the Ed Sullivan Show (where in New York, a young Israeli immigrant named Gene Simmons watched in wowed awe along w/ the rest of teen America)---and the four lads from Liverpool, England blew any hope of American censorboard oppressive efforts at taming music.

John, Paul, George and Ringo were now world-wide superstars, they musically bridged the US and UK with their rebellious radical sound--and won the hearts of everyone of the time.

Even in this era where overall all music genres today has taken a tragic nosedive into the worst, The Beatles still to this day attract new young audiences.

They just kind of revolutionized rock? Is that all?

What have you done? Invented the internet?

They not only changed music for everyone on earth, but they did it time after time after time.

Turn that rap off and listen to some really good music before your brain blows up.

The Beatles starts a new *state* of music in 1960's. New kind of 'Rock'.
They represents the 1960's. And we couldn't ignore their contributions to the music industry, even today there are people playing their songs, re-arrange their productions.

i loved them. i think it's the song that they wrote and how they influenced other poeple in their creative pursuit in songwriting, i guess. technically, of course, they are not as good as shredder (in their command of their instrument).

but the beatles can do other stuff, they introduced the eastern (indian particularly) musical stuff the the west, they came out with reverse tape recording, harrison's obsession with sitar influenced danelectro to come out with a guitar that sounds like sitar.

it depends to how look at things. i would prefer "tomorrow never knows" or "strawberry fields forever" than some people that can play a zillion notes per second.

I'm not against heavy music, coz i like those too.

You are entitled to your opinion. I personally think they started a new wave of music. Most bands say they would be nowhere if the Beatles hadn't started what they did. I love their music with all of my heart and I think the music world would be sadly lacking without them.
