Garters are garters, they all feel the same way. What happened to you that you are so distressed over panty hose, lol? Anyway, I don't like fake-bake or spray on tans because they make you look like a carrot,,, go bare-legged if you can.

If you want something that make you look slimmer, without having to wear full pantyhose, then try Spanx.
If you want the look of pantyhose without having to wear it, then try the spray on pantyhose. (I've seen it at Ulta)
