I was showing a friend google earth, the earth was spinning around as it does in the begginning & then stopped as did my mouse my first reaction was to replace the batteries in the mouse but this did not help I sent microsoft error reports I rebooted my computer & off we went again but it all froze in google earth again I sent an error report. The reports kept referring to drivers that I could upgrade my drvers using the internet by doing as was suggested to me in my attemts to follow the help my computer went off & came back on when following the on screen advice my key board up & down toggles just will not work I can't remember the whole page but options were to restore previous settings or start windows normally it counts down I cannot move any settings the computer tries to reboot but after the windows logo & scanning back it goes to a non functional black screen. I have windows XP if that helps. I have no problem with my keyboard if I go to set up I can move around using my keys

If the computer boots in safe mode, (tap the F8 key during boot up), then it could be a driver. Boot in safe mode with networking and download a new driver from the mfg.
My guess is the Video Card is finished, however

You can download ccleaner for free here: http://bit.ly/1Bk5V5C

First open CCleaner
Go to the Cleaner tab and you will be confronted by a very confusing lineup of checkboxes.
To make this brief, below is my recommended setup:
Under internet explorer check temporary internet files, cookies, and last download location. Most users don't really need this stuff. keep history and bookmarks unchecked, history is a maybe, but you don't want to lose bookmarked sites. You can normally leave Windows Explorer, System, and Advanced alone.
Run CCleaner and it will start deleting files.
afterward it will present you with a list of the files deleted, you really don't need to go through it as it will be several pages long.
The registry cleaner is recommended for slightly more advanced users. Use it after uninstalling programs as they will often leave behind incorrect registry entries.
If you decide to run Registry cleaner then review the items detected and always back up the registry (I keep a folder aside for this)
The Tools tab lets you uninstall programs and set startup programs. Why do you need this if Windows has all of these features? Especially with Vista Home Ed. The windows defender software explorer( startup programs) doesn't pick up some entries (however software explorer is easier to use).
Using CCleaner to uninstall programs and then check for leftover registry entries takes less time.
Under Options you can determine how CCleaner cleans your files. I leave this alone.

Here is what I would do.
Switch the computer off.
start the computer up and keep tapping on F8.
A screen will come up which gives you a choice to startup in Safemode.
Go into Safemode.
Once the system is in safemode go to "Add and remove" in your "control panel" and uninstall Google earth.
Once that is done go to "MyComputer" and click with the right mouse button onto drive C.
Choose "properties" and go to "tools".
Click on "check" and make sure that
"automatically fix file system errors" is enabled.
After that click on "start"
Windows will ask you to schedule this check.
Say OK and than restart the system normal.
Let windows do the whole check.
I hope that will help.

The google software has caused a software fault in XP. Reboot, pressing F8 to get to the win XP startup menu. Choose the safe mode option and uninstall goolge earth. Then try rebooting. If this doesnt work but you managed to get into safe mode ok, then uninstall and reinstall each driver for your hardware, starting with the video drivers and working through.

Either you don't have a fast enough PC....a fast enough processor/ram etc....a fast enough connection......or your graphics card is crashing & clashes with the Goog earth prog.

Check out the exact req's needed for the goog earth prog on another PC.....and look on the Goog earth web pages at thier support and tech sections.....make sure your PC meets all the req's.

To get your PC BACK........START IN SAFE MODE....AND UNINSTAL GOOGLE EARTH COMPLETLY! YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO ROLL BACK TO A PREVIOUSLY GOOD RESTORE POINT TOO

Find the driver CD, go to start, (settings) control panel, add remove programs and remove the driver.

Reboot, and reload the driver.
