It takes at least 1 full month for birth control pills to become effective . You are most likely to get pregnant on the exact middle day , between the end of your period and the begining . Birth control pills are usually based on a 28 day cycle . 21 pills are hormones used to control your period and the last 7 are sugar pills which are basically used for remembering to take your pills everyday . If you miss 1 of the first 21 , double up the next day . If you miss 1 of the last 7 just throw it away , it doesn't matter . On a 28 day cycle beware of days 13 , 14 & 15 they are most likely to get you pregnant .

All birth control varies, but they usually tell you that for one week, use another form of protection, but after one week of continuous use, it should be effective.

Normally you should never miss a day. If you do then you should call your doctor. They will not be mad but will give you professional advice, and will let you know what might happen.

Read the little pamphlet that came with the pills. It's all in there, trust me...
