Obviously you don't know that Barbara Striesand directed movies. So does Mary Tyler Moore (who also has her own production company MTM). They are the two that broke ground for women directors.

Yes we can, as an aspiring film maker myself, I hope to one day be in the director's chair..I can name some movies that were made by female directors...Lost in Translation (Sofia Coppola)...Vanity Fair (Mira Nair)....Bend it like Beckham (Gurinder Chadha).....Riding in Cars with Boys (Penny Marshall)...A league of their Own (Penny Marshall)..Big (Penny Marshall)..The Virgin Suicides (Sofia Coppola)...the list goes on and on.

Absolutely!
Penny Marshall and Sophia Coppola come most easily to mind. I believe Selma Hayek has also done so at least once for Frida, if I remember.
