Gotta rut aye? There a few things that you can do.
Try a different tuning and explore the interval relationships between the strings.
Try out a different style of song to play that is outside of your normal tastes and style.
If you can, get a book of scales that covers the different scale modes and pick a few to learn. Also learn more scales.
Don't try to force it. If you can try out a different stringed instrument for a while. When you come back to the guitar it will seem new.
Hook up with other players.
Most of all, don't let it get you down. It just means that you are ready to grow some more. This won't be the last time that you hit this wall. It's quite common.
Remember to have fun with it.

One simple word "Modes". Look up the different scale modes, these will allow you to use different scales over the same bland backings or jams to spice things up a little.
My old guitar teacher also had a neat trick, learn a guitar solo by some band/artist or whoever and use it in other songs in the same key, makes things a little more interesting.

Listen to something different. Find some tunes by the greats from all genres and just listen. Jam in different time signatures. Play along while you listen. I think the biggest thing though, is listen to more stuff, and a variety of stuff. DON'T listen to the style of music you actually play. If you play hard rock, listen to jazz, if you play jazz, listen to country, if you play country, listen to hard rock.

Listen to Frank Zappa, king crimson, bill frisell,
Buy a wah wah pedal
play with a slide
play like Stanley Jordan
Also, when jamming--screw up on purpose. This will lead you into doing things you haven't done before.

Get an empty beer bottle and try slide. Listen to some Elmore James or Leadbelly to get a feel of what it sounds like.

Maybe you could try alternative tunings, that's what I do when I want to play something a bit different. I even make up my own tunings sometimes.
