Jeez! I'm starting to feel old.

"con" is a reserved word from the MS-DOS days that refered to the "console" - meaning the text on your display. You used to be able to type the command "copy con test.bat" and it would allow you to type a series of commands for a "test.bat" file (substitute test.bat for any name or extension). Press ctrl-z to save the file.

Since we still have a command line mode in XP, the reserved word is still valid.

Most likely in ASCII, the written term "con" may mean "configure", which fowls up your version of MS Windows, and is not allowed as a "failsafe" feature. Just think about what you want in this special directory, and try finding a better directory name for it.
