He and I have been special friends )platonic for over 5 years..I was there for him through a terrible divorce...he calls me several times a day...I dont pursue him at all..however I am there for him when he calls. We do a lot of things with his kids and always have a fun time. When I indicated recently that what I really wanted was for him to just ask me out...lets get back to basics " a date"...he freaked and said he would not date someone in his circle. What is that about??? I thought since he and I are so comfortable currently that a further step of progression could be a date. I guess I was wrong...and I was also very hurt. I took a leap of faith and got hurt.. Ouch!!!

Maybe he just doesn't want to lose a great friend by pursuing a relationship. Sometimes people just work better as friends and not lovers. I can see you're hurt, but just continue to be a good friend and respect his decision....who knows, maybe in time he'll come around.

i like my friend too but he doesnt have the same feelings
