It's inevitable that people would know THAT it exists. What's IN it is another issue entirely. Good luck getting the truth on that.

How can we know it is one of the most kept secrets in the nation? Perhaps one of the most kept secret in the nation are the ones we don't even know what to call. And what about the other 50 areas? They didn't start numbering their secret base from 51 did they?

area 51 was really top secret until the 50's or 60's. Sometime in there something happened, but i don't know what, and everyone found out it existed. now everyone knows it exists, but nobody actually knows what goes on there.

What do you REALLY know about Area 51? Is what you know the truth...or merely what they WANT you to believe? Or maybe they tell you part of a truth, to keep you from know the whole truth! Or perhaps the truth is, there isn't nothing to know....and it's an on-going experiment in media control. Hmmm....maybe you work for them, eh? Maybe you want to know what we know! Or think we know!
