I shorted pins 5 and 6 today to find the code for my truck. I get a check engine light sometimes when I get on the highway or when I am driving for a moderate period of time at the same speed. I have a stick shift, if that means anything. When I short the pins on the computer, I get one blink. Period. Other times I did it I get two quick blinks and one long blink... Hell, I even got a whole set of blinks, like 4 numbers. Someone help me and tell me if I did it right. I shorted pins 5 and 6 I think... theyre the two at the top right of the computer hookup.

I think you need to short pins 1 and 2....not 5 and 6. Then turn the key on. It will flash a couple of 12 codes, then it will start to flash failure codes. For instance 2 flashes, then 4....code 24, and so on. It will start over again with the first code flashed when it's done with all codes. Good luck.
