I totally disagree. Any breed will attack someone if trained or is mistreated in someway. I own a half-breed pit bull she is part blue tick and she is part pit bull and she is not aggressive in anyway she is nine months old she is sweet she loves kids she watches my 4 month baby niece sometimes she will make sure no other dogs step on her while she is on the floor and she makes sure people knows the baby is there she does not bite them she just barks if they are about to step on her, and I did not train her to do this she does it on her own. yes Pit bulls have a bad reputation I understand that but that is only because the dogs actually accused of the crimes is because the owners abused them or trained them to fight and be aggressive. No one ever mentions the little dogs that have attacked small children like I know a girl that was attacked by a poodle just because the poodle did not like little kids. Well that is what I think I believe it is wrong to discriminate one breed of dog just because some stupid people made it to where their reputation is ruined. It's the same thing as being racist in the human world. All lives have a chance no matter the reputation one has or just because of who they are.

I'm all for it.
Pitbulls can be very sweet dogs, but they are like volcanoes, there is always the slumbering risk that their killing instinct is triggered to explode. Under certain circumstances, beyond the control of their owners, pitbulls are loose cannon. They will attack and go for the jugular, with intend to kill. This is their instinct, part of which was bred in by humans.
So, even though humans are to blame for their character, there is no way back and pitbulls should be outlawed, before more people, especially children, become victims.

I'm not going to say that the entire breed is bad... I had a pit bull that was just like a baby. He carried around a little stuffed animal in his mouth all the time...but, when he started barking at the neighbors and jumping the fence, the fear was there that he would hurt someone (and he was absolutely capable of it). I don't think they should live in congested areas. Urban, suburban areas have too many people which raises the risk of injury. They are more dangerous than other dogs because their jaws are so ridiculously strong and they don't let go. They should be kept in more rural areas, away from population. This would cut down on injury. And, definitely not raised around small children.

I think it's ridiculous. I don't really have any interest in owning a pitbull, myself...but I believe there is no such thing as a "bad" breed. Just owners who don't know how to train.
However, because of the overbreeding problem and people buying from puppy mills instead of reputable breeders, there are some problems within the breed itself.
What is the solution? I don't know. Mandatory puppy training for all dog owners???

Yes, the pitbull breed should be exterminated

I've stated before that all pit bull dogs should be destroyed. Any responsible person would never own a pit bull. They were bred to be fighting dogs. It's the only reason that they exist.

Banning a breed is not the answer.

It's a knee jerk reaction to a problem that involves more that just pitbulls, and almost always involves the owners.

The owners are the problem, not the dogs. I've actually known some very friendly pit bulls.

(N.B. - In CT pit bulls aren't necessarily purebred, and most aren't ABPTs. They're mostly Staffordshire or crosses. Still, the same holds true of the APBT.)

But you are still left with the pitbull owners.

Is this in America? Doesn't sound like an American kind of law to me, more the kind of panicked knee-jerk ruling that Tony Blair specialises in.

I'm all for it. Either that, or permanantly have them chained up 24/7.
