ok well i'm a 12 year old girl and here are a few i like:gregor the overlander series
inkheart
inkspell
peter pan(the old version)
peter and the starcatchers
the shadow children series
and this one is older but it is called 'the door in the wall'or somthing like that.it would be great to do a book report.you just read the inside page that gives a description and then make up a bunch of stuff cuz it is really old and chances are no one has ever read it.i love books and see them as a whole different world.seriously i can get literally lost in one and not come back for hours.

Maybe 14 is a little young for this book, but I recently read Anderson Cooper's Dispatches from the Edge. In case you don't know he's a CNN correspondent and has travelled all over the world covering all kinda of different stories. It's a smooth read and has a lot of great info about a lot of events.

You should read the book "The Voyages of Dr. Doolittle". Its not the real Dr. Doolittle like the one that you see on television, but its a good book about a naturalist that goes on a voyage with a little boy as a passenger. Its kind of a thick book (like a novel) but not that thick like those Harry Potter books. Its a ral good book. (A naturalist is a person who can speak to animals). And if you like SciFi, you can also read the book "The Boy Who Reversed Hinself". Its kind of like the size of "The Voyages of Dr. Doolittle" but its a good book. I read it in 2 days! Its about a boy who can go into different dimensions and when he came back to the real world, he would be reversed! Queer...

If you like fact over fiction, at your age almost any informative easy read is good. the persons at yhe library will help you find whatever you may be interested in. Browse through a newer edition dictionary, just full of a lot of things you probably like to know. Join a local book club over a national one that will not try to sell you more than you need.

If you like the Ring Trilogy, you'll love the Chronicles of Narnia series. (I'm assuming you've also read "The Hobbit", as well).
Books by Gary Soto are great for Latino teens. Shooting Monarchs is a sad, but relevant young adult book.
A book I couldn't put down, but is more for 17-and up, is "Blue like Jazz".

You should read some classics,
The last of the Mohican's, Lord of the Flies (excellent book), Tom Sawyer, The Hobbit and Olive Twist.
Lord of the Flies is a really incredible story. My father-in-law also always speaks of a book called "The Heart of Boy" he recommends is to every boy and has given it to his 3 sons and he grandson.
Enjoy!

check out Stephen R Donaldson, "The chronicles of Thomas Covenant the unbeliever"...
This is a series of three, 6 if you include the continuation triology....
Excellent series about a leper who is transported to a land and hailed as their salvation, but being a leper he has many issues of his own.....
At least try the first book and see what you think.....
