oh my. i told a friend recently that if i ever had to counsel someone considering a degree in biology, i would tell them to run screaming the other way. no, seriously, biology is great, but it is the least well paid of all the science majors (at the Bachelor's level). of course, this makes no sense considering how much more comprehensive biology education is. chemistry and physics majors do not have to take biology, but biology majors have to take chemistry and physics.

put it this way, your career options in most geographic areas are severely limited without a graduate degree or licensure to work in the medical field. just keep that in mind. i don't think there is much difference between a BA and BS as far as job outlook goes.

good luck!

all the above are good but why B.A. degree? My school offers both a B.A. and a B.S., you should go for the B.S. degree because it's more specialized

Work for a biotechnology company or pharmaceuticals company (try www.biotech.deep13.com or www.deep13.biotech.com to start - I can never remember which on it is) in manufacturing, quality control, or - if you are really good and already have lab experience - the research labs at these companies.

This is exactly how I got my start. Three years work experience at a $2B (in annual sales) biotech company, then back to graduate school for business.

you could work as a biologist for the government (US fish and wildlife service, US forest service, Dept. of Fish and Game) or you can work for a non-profit, or an environmental consultant firm. You could also go on and get your creditials and teach biology.
