If doubles or clones are allowed, can a soccer team from a strong club such as Chelsea or Real Madrid be strong enough to beat a strong national team like Germany or Italy? Do they have the same strength?

I am sure that they could because the clubs spend much more time training and playing as a team as opposed to a bunch of talented individuals being brought together for special occasions.

If the club is really strong enough to beat a team like Italy or France then the club is great indeed.
But I stand solidly behind the National teams; The clubs would have to beat the players and their National team spirit and passion.

Clubs are usually stronger because they play in the same formation almost every day and competitively every week. National teams come together only in the days leading up to the games. The last fact is also given al lot of times when national coaches give up their job "I like working with the same people every day".

I don't know, but i think not...there is something to be said about playing for the national team...there is a sense of pride; while playing for a club is just work, playing for the national team is considered a privilege. Almost always, players step up their game when they are playing for their national team.

Clubs like Real, Barca, Chelsea, Man Utd can easily do it, but players like Ballack and Huth, Cannavaro and Zambrotta, which team will they play for, it could decide the match
