In Ohio if you want to attend a different school
1. You must apply for the upcoming school year. This is done in March or April. You usually don't find out if you are accepted until a week or so before school starts.
2. If you are in sports, you have to sit out the year, or your home school must release you. Many schools do not release their athletes.
3. Some schools do not accept any open enrollment students because of their class size.
4. There might be room for a 9th grader, but no room for an 8th grader. If a family wants to transfer their children to the new school, there could be a problem.
5. Once you are accepted for open enrollment, you do not have to apply each year.
