Jeep of course. When off-roading, I always have found trees to be 8 feet apart and most trails seem to be 8 feet wide. No place for a Hummer, not to mention the ruts you would make with all that excess weight. My Jeep has no problem getting 4 guys and their gear into the woods in comfort, and still fits in a normal parking spot at the mall.
And yes I have driven plenty of Hummers in the Military. If you need to haul a 5 ton trailer into the woods then a Hummer is great.

really ninjadude it would depend on what type of offroading you were wanting to do. if you are talking about some very tight precise courses the hummer is way to big. however it is great at just going out in the mud and playing. if you were a serious offroad enthusiast you would probably go with the jeep. of course you would have to do some major modifications to it. better on the pocket book also. any hummer sucks down enough gas for it and a few other cars. on the other hand not many people can say they have an H1 in the garage.

Good luck in aquiring you Hummer! You'll have more luck in purchising a jeep how ever!Cheaper gas wise and insurance. As too the question about off roadding. Both are very cappable & designed for what they are made for!!!! I belive if I had too pick one it be the hummer,if only in the fact thers that much more intrior room.Price wise it's the Jeep.If I had too choose one for myself right now,I'd go with the jeep.I know more people that could afford it better than the hummer! Did I help??Hope I did?????

actually a really great vehicle for off road is the chevy ZR-2 they can get through a lot of crap there light and have a great stock tire clearance but if i had to choose between the 2 um duh! hummer military uses them and talk about some rough terrain but only the H1 the other 2 (H2&H3)suck big time those are family vehicles and dont belong off road thats why they got tow hooks on them....so when they get stuck they can get drug out!!!but then again if you put a good chevy 350 , 2 deuce and a half axles, and some 44's under a jeep its a bad *** machine!!!

Jeep - its made for off road and handles better. I know a lot of guys who own hummers, but R afraid to take it off road. It might get damage. BOO WHO!
What a waste of money.
Jeep 4 the win!

I guess I'd pick the Hummer H1 and the Jeep to go grocery shopping.
