Planned Parenthood is a much better resource for this information than you are likely to get here.

The safest and most effective is just not to do it. BUT, if you must, there is a shot that you can get, I think it is called depro, or something like that, anyway. You get it 4 times a year and it is effective within 24 hours of recieveing it. But it does have side effects, some that are great like your period can and probally will stop, then there are the bad, weight gain,no protection from ANY STD's and if taken for a long period of time, it can become harder for you to concieve when you are ready to have children. I think the best thing for you to do is to talk to your dr. about all available methods before deciding on just one. The main thing is, just use something. Kids having kids in an epidemic at this day and age and it is a sad thing.....

First of all, that seems really selfish of him to not want to be safe just to feel good. Sometimes there are sacrifices that you make when you choose to not have a child right now. The convenience of sex feeling good is a really lame excuse compared to the inconvenience of a child if you arent' ready for that.
however, to answer your question, the pill is the most effective form of birthcontrol but only if you take it every day and NEVER skip it. there are lots and lots of kinds of bc for women. shots you don't have to remember to take and implants are fairly effective but not normally used for people who eventually do want children. No birth control is 100% effective so when a second form of birthcontrol, as in condoms, is used it is the most safe way to not get pregnant.
But seriously you should be careful if your man is more concerned about his pleasure (because condoms don't make it any less pleasureable for women as far as i know) than being safe. USE YOUR HEAD!!!

Abstinance. It's 100% safe, and 100% effective. Every other option has no guarantees.
Many of answers on here accomidated your already having sex with statements like, "abstinance, but since you're having sex - condoms." I disagree. I will NOT accomodate your having sex outside of marriage and so I say very loudly to practice abstinance and STOP HAVING SEX.
I can say this because pre-marital sex has practicly destroyed the relationship I have with my fiance'. Many would reason that since we are actually engaged, that it's all okay. WRONG. It's not okay. Since that first time we had sex, we opened a door that cannot be shut. Sex has robbed our spirit and soul, leaving us both feeling empty and ashamed.
Sex is a very powerful thing. When used outside of the rules God (the one who designed it), sex is a destroyer and a thief. When used in context to God's design, sex is a builder, a unifier, and a gift straight from Heaven.
Please, I beg of you, stop having sex and repent to God (and each other) before you ruin your own life. Get counseling at 1-888-NEED-HIM or 1-800-394-HOPE.

Abstainence is the SAFEST and MOST EFFECTIVE, but if you're already having unprotected sex and not pregnant already, here's what you get.
The Nuevo ring. It's cheap, lasts for a month, and simple. All it is is a small plastic (but flexible) ring about the inner circumference of a showercurtain ring. You just slide it all the way up inside your vagina and leave it there. Wa-laa! Instant Birth control, and it's fine for the guy too, just tell him to aim for the middle of the ring! Bullseye!

Abstinence.
The Pill.
& Condoms. <-- They don't make it horrible.
(And for god's sakes, if he can't respect the fact that YOU want to use a contraceptive during ya'lls non-marital, sexual engagements ... how do you think he'd act if ya'll kept doing what ya'll are doing and you ended up pregnant?)
Protect your own body, girl!
