First of all NaCl is just one salt. What else is true about it? It is an ionic compound. The net ionic reaction for such a compound is Na(+) + Cl(-) -----> NaCl(s).
It is the most common but it is only one among the various salts out there. All salts are ionic compounds (to say the least).
