I didn't learn untill I was 19 yrs, and that was way back in 1996! No biggie. Find your clitoris and rub it. Follow what feels good, and experiment with different techniques, like how fast or how hard you rub. If you can, talk to your best friend (the one you trust), and see what she says. Chances are pretty good that one girl said she does, and all the others did the "Oh, yeah, me too". Now they're all scrambling to learn so they don't seem like the liars that they are. In 5 more years they'll all be bragging about not being virgins anymore (when they really are).

actually you dont have to. dont ask me the appropriate age thats your decision. just look for books at the library on teen reproductive health thats how i found out. or actually (this is gross) go into a chatroom with a bunch of horny guys.they will explain everything in detail. guys are just like that. or just type in masterbation on descovery health.com you might b able to find somthing there. ummmm good luck i guess.
