Sex and society?

Question

I was watching an HBO documentary about different cultures and societies. In the majority of the other countries, sex is viewed as okay to be seen on tv or movies. In the US, guns are viewed in tv and movies more than sex. I noticed that in the US some people are offended by sex (naked bodies, sexual acts, etc.). If anyone would like to offer their opinion of this, that would be great.

You think America is bad, you should try Australia. It is the most prudish, uptight country in terms of what you can show on TV. It's pitiful. Commercials get banned in about one day just for showing a bit of cleavage.

I too feel that violence has replaced physical nurturing as being okay in this society. However, it's not often that we want our sexual laundry aired for all to see. Violence is everywhere and noone is embarrassed to talk about the violence but talking about sex or seeing sex is more hidden. I think it goes way back. Wars were always top news and accepted as just the way it is. Sex was always a taboo.

Sex is a fact of life, it IS what creates life. Its also a pleasureable activity to take part in. The American society is so uptight about sex, yet-its in our face everyday in advertisements from liquor to jeans. Its ridiculous that we censure certain body parts, certain words because they are so 'offensive'...seeing naked people or hearing certain words will not kill me or my loved ones, but guns will. There are more guns in this country than people. I dont really want to see people 'doing it all over the place, but I do see people shooting people all over the place. Our country is a mess..just a mess.

Communisim and Socialism are responsible for that in other countries. It's a deep subject, but that is it in a nutshell.
