Not for a second. If there was a 'good' reason, which is an idea I'm going to throw around lightly but don't take lightly, it'd just be environment and lack of self control/will power.

In our primitive state men are naturally inclined towards obtaining several mates. We also tend to be extremely violent and brutal. Fortunately, we have grown beyond those caveman roots and now have the capacity, and responsibility, to control those instinctual urges. Men have no more right to multiple partners than they have the right to smash someone's brains out with a rock simply because they are eating something that looks tasty.

Some say that it's inherent in men to propagate the species. But, I think that was cavemen. They used to hunt for food too but, they don't now so why should they be promiscuous? Also, what makes you think a woman doesn't need more than one man? Different people meet different needs. I'm just not judgemental.

I think men need one woman to have a family with and millions of women to have sex with.

For unexplained reasons, the ratio of men to women at birth is very close to 1:1. This is probably because for breeding purposes and family survival, primitive humans developed one male for every female. This is unlike other species which have more lopsided ratios with females usually being born more often than males.

This would lead one to believe that nature intended for humans to have families consisting of one father and one mother. I think this is the best configuration for a family but doesn't mean that a male has to only have sex with one partner. It simply means that a male should have a family with only one partner.

It is all to do with the testis. Animals with big testis (or balls if you like) go around mating with all kinds of their species and animals with smaller ones mate for life. The human male is in between these two, so really the choice is your to have. If you want to mate with someone for life then you will and if you want to go around trying to get with as many women as you can then you will. As much as you would like to think that the choice is not yours, IT IS your choice.
