Forever. I'm not learning another language because people are too lazy to use English.

It will continue to dominate, in one form or another, as long as the Internet lives freely. The Internet has caused a greater use of the English language in everyday lives around the world since it tends to be the primary language on the net. While there are a lot of other languages in use, English is the most used and will gradually come to be the dominate world language. However, with all of the shortcuts and poor grammar out on the net, it will be a much abridged version of formal English.

Well, honestly, I think for a while, a long while that is. And you know though I'm an English-as-a-second-language, I think that there are a lot of good reasons for English dominating the spot. Well, it's quite easy, not very complicated(and I'm saying compared to other languages); you know simple grammer easy letters, etc. And then it's very easy to use in scientific terms, so it's mostly considered a scientififc language, you know it's better(or should I say easier?) in science and buisness use than in literature(again comparing it to other languaes, like Arabic, very flowery and hard letters, and hundred ways of writing it, and hard vocab. and then there's chinese, and god French has such complicated grammer, I hate it!) And not to mention I mean powerful nations speak the language...so I guess it's only expected, and I'm not complaining. Though why do YOU ask? Quite unexpected question.

As long as people who speak english continue to be 90% of those who create or do everything important in the world, it will continue to be the dominant language. People learn english as a second language to get access to those things that their own people are simply not meritorious enough to do for themselves. That is the bottom line.

English is going to be used for a long time because there are a lot of countries who speak English and also is what is called a "lingua franca", the lenguage used in diplomacy. A lot of people with university degrees speak in English to each other. Great language which makes communication possible.

I think the english language and Christianity go hand in hand. When you see one of them start to decline the other will fall as well. I think it would be amazing if the world could adapt a universal language. Imagine the possibilities for technological advancment if no translation was needed to communicate with people.

It will grow as the main language of the world because it is adaptive. US English is a mix of other languages. so it grows and changes.
