IMO, clowns relate to the other myths that are out there. You end the story the way you want. The toothfairy, for instance, could be good or bad. She leaves you gifts, but the thought of a winged thing flying over your head while you sleep is kind of creepy. If you've ever seen the movie by Stephen King that's about a killer clown, then of course, clowns will creep you out. But, if you're a little kid, clowns can be fun(ny). To each his own.

I'm not that scared of clowns ... BUT, imagine while you're sleeping at night a clown comes out of your closet and laughs in a very loud voice then comes to kill you with a knife or something!!! That would would be scary wouldn't it?

Too me, I think of they're white faces, weird eyes, tacky clothing, and they're big, fake smile. I never watched the movie IT, but my sister when out to watch it with her friends (a long time ago), and when she came back and told me about it (I was 6 years old), I had nightmares, a clown with a sadistic smile and a bloody knife. That's what made me afraid of clowns.
