Those who are intolerant, they mistake others self-pride as arrogance. The Americans originally have left their home in Europe and made their own destiny in America and rightly take pride in having built a wealthy and powerful nation over last 400 years. To-day the NATO is headed by the Americans and in every thing else the European countries are looking forward for the USA to lead. So, they are unable to tolerate American pride due to complex.

Europeans are culturally arrogant. As in- their places, traditions, methods, etc have been around for a very long time. They think that's they way it's been done for hundreds of years and it's best. Europeans have more social governments (good or bad you pick) but the individual tends to be a little less self reliant.

Americans are more individually arrogant. As in- traditionally Americans have to be more self reliant especially considering the personality type it takes to forge an entire new country. American government provides much less for it's citizens, a far more aggressive attitude is required to survive which could be considered arrogant.

Because most of us are. When I lived in Europe, I really didn't notice it at first, then as I got used to courtisies shown away from tourist spots, I noticed it a lot. Pushy overbearing Americans and often not even learning the least things about their host country before they visited.. Forgetting that these places they visted were very old and not modernized to the extent the States are.

France was not as mannerly as the other countries, but away from the big cities most were nice. I didn't blame my fellow Americans much for being arrogant there, a lot to be arrogant about.

Difference between Europeans and americans on this subject is that Europeans are too affraid to publically state their opinions, Im speaking about western europeans born before 1980, due to their History.
Americans now are securing the world for the world because no one else has the strength or heart to do it.
50 years from now when the world is alot more safer Europeans will be praising americans like they did when they arrived in 1914 and 1944.
Where has all the love gone?

Hello Aussie here...

I'd have to say that I find Americans more arrogant. Sorry but it's the truth...

But! Saying that not all Americans are like this... just some.

I feel like its because they are jealous of us. We are the most powerful nation on the face of the Earth. We go to anyone's rescue during times of peril or threat, and what thanks do we get? We get ridiculed for being a little extravagant here and there. Maybe we should have let Hitler run over France's little smelly, snooty asses. Maybe next time a tsunami or earthquake devastates a region, we should just sit back and watch the people fend for themselves. Ingrates.
