SDRAM will NOT fit in a DDR board. There are certain boards out there that have dedicated DIMMs to both DDR and SDR, but you cannot mix the two under any circumstances. I would also advise against getting on of these "hybrids" because SDR is out of date... But this might be a cheap alternative. I'd hate to see you stuck with a board you'll have to upgrade soon again though.

Keep in mind, if you have 640mb of memory, it is probably in a 256mb/256/mb/128mb configuration and hybrids have (at most) two SDR DIMMs and 2 DDR DIMMs. If you are using 512/128, that works out well. If you are using 128/128/256/128, then that's even worse. ;)

If you buy a hybrid, you will only be able to use two of your memory modules. A notceable performance hit will occur as well from using dated SDR, but all in all, it should work fine and if you do not have the money for DDR, then it might the right choice for you.

Pls take help from computer H/W eng.

if your computer has got a DDR ram slots too along with SD ram slots. then you can stop using the 128 MB ram and shift to a 256MB or 512 MB ram. always go for a 512 MB ram..because it doesnt make much difference..

That all depends on the computer. Before that could be answered, you'd need to know what brand of computer you have, the model number, and the month/year it was built. Most computers can be upgraded, yes. I've been working on them since 1964 and remember when they maxed out with a total of 16 megs of memory. A Pentium 2 with 32 address lines can hold up to 64 gigs of memory...But somewhere, they all max out. Larry

Yes if the computer is capable of this kind of memory but don't mixed the SD memory with the DDR one or you will regret what might happened.

Yes if your motherboard specifically says it can take DDR.

No if it only says SDram.

Check the manufacturers website, or better yet find the old box it came in.
