Why did nobody mention L7?
Girlschool were probably the best all-female metal band, their St Valentines Day Massacre record that they did with Motorhead still "rocks". Lemmy loved them, so that's good enough for me.

One name: Kitty. This is real headbanging metal. But, also check out Lita Ford and, although I don't think she's considered metal - but she's still hardcore - Joan Jett.
