Should the Dalai Lama encourage an armed group to be formed to protect Tibet? He could have an organization that he could publically disavow capture some Chinese soldiers. It wouldn't be necessary to harm the soldiers, but China would be sure to retaliate and probably kill some civilians. The international community would then put pressure on China to leave Tibet before more civilians are hurt or killed.

I'm sorry the picture I have in my head of the Dalai Lama with an uzi just does not correlate! He's a pacifist. What does "get tough" mean and entail? More bloodshed?? I feel so horrible for him, what can he truly do?

The Dalai lama will never get tough with anyone. It is not his way. China is a large enough force in the world whereas even the strongest country in the world (America) has a hard time trying to strong arm or put pressure on them to do anything.

Obviously you know nothing of any form of Buddism. A true Buddist does not condone any violence. Furthermore the Dalai Lama is the Spirtual Leader of Tibet, very much to that of the Pope is the Catholic community

The Dalai Lama is a pacifist.. Tibet would never muster enough troops to be effective anyway, they would be just like any other two bit terrorist group.

Isn't the concept of violence completely foreign and opposite to everything the Dalai Lama stands for? Sounds ludicrous to me. Violence does not solve anything.
