Public assistance is Child Support. By this I mean if the father doesn't pay chld support then the government pays through public assistance. Eventually they will send a letter to the father to have hi repay what they are giving you. If you were recieving child support, let's say $50 a month then that money would go to the government to pay them back for the assistance they are giving you. Try the Division of Family Services, they should offer daycare assistance and you may qualify for food stamps if you don't already get them.

I live in Colorado also. There are free (pro bono) family lawyers who usually work a half day per week at each county court. I know they are in Douglas and Arapahoe. You are not supposed to ask them legal questions, but you could ask them how you fill out the paper work to collect child support. Perhaps they could tell you of such a program.
Summit County has a family services staff that could answer your question as well. There are probably family services workers in many Colorado counties. I would start there. Also you might check with other single parents to see if they know about or receive assistance. Someone that works with homeless women and children may know whether you can get more assistance.
I have never heard of such a program other than public assistance which serves that purpose. I was on WIC which is similar to food stamps. You must be getting that.
There are certainly some people in Colorado in the family services system who would care enough to help you figure out a better plan. I was not employed when my son was born and his father did not feel like paying child support and the various county organizations helped me get on my feet. I started a company and I own my own car and home. There are jobs you can do from home like medical transcriptionist and phone answering and there are jobs like housecleaning that will let you bring your child. At the ski resorts, there is free transportation and when you locate your own cleaning jobs, you can make $20 per hour.

Sorry but whoever gave you that info is wrong! There is no such agency that will pay for child support!
All u can do is continue with the public assistance program, continue working, try to apply for housing and you should be OK... After all, thousands of low-income individuals and families already do it!
For starters, u can cut out the cable and Internet service u have, that u can do without--- sit down and make a budget for yourself and kids- It may be hard at first but many people can do away w/ so many luxuries and they are fine! Good Luck!

Your best bet is to contact your child support worker and ask her to be sure because its not gonna make any sense for them to provide you any type of funds if you can't get out and find the information and assistance your child deserves. Tomorrow morning call your worker and then contact your food stamp worker if you get any about child care assistance. You can even receive child care transportation for free. Also even if you are not catholic contact an Organization called Catholic Charities Archdiocese. They have hundreds of FREE daycare facilities and the best thing its not first come first serve its a need by case basis. Also get you paperwork together to show that you are trying to support your child and the father isn't doing enough. Drag his but back in court and ask for an increase. If he's an abl body man then he has the ability to make at least 5 times as much as you get in assistance.

sorry BUT Screw you. next time dont have a baby with someone illegal. Dont have a baby YOU cannot afford. How are you able to afford internet and probably a cell phone and other crap you dont need.
Why is it so hard for people to say hmmmmm I can barely afford to feed myself but im gonna have a baby anyway.
ALL welfare should be cut off and screw paying for welfare mothers going to college. Its getting to the point where only the rich and the welfare poor can go to college. this might sound harsh I dont really care but im tired of sniveling women wah wah I cant afford anything but I have this baby and babys daddy no where to be found. he can send you money from where he lives NOW, end of story

You can get Welfare to help you pay for school, housing, daycare, etc. You can also apply for WIC to get vouchers for food items like milk, cheese, eggs, cereal, baby food, juice, etc. Next year they will be adding to the vouchers fresh fruit and whole grains. It really sounds like you would benefit from returning to school so you can get a better job so you can financially support yourself and your son. If you can afford a computer you can afford to buy gas.
