There are millions of muslims in India. India has a number of prominent muslim personalities in politics, sports, acamedicians etc. who are very much Indian. I t should be easy for the two countries to be friends and together be a powerful force in this part of the globe. But what's keeping them apart ?. Is America behind this ?

Billion $ question!
I believe its some countries (like USA, UK, Russia & may be China) & thier weapon industries & above all the militaries of both the countries (Being the beneficiaries) wanting the conflict between the two countries to remain unresolved.
The polititians tried their best to resolve the issues through dialogue like;
1) UN Resolution
2) Shimla Accord
3) Lahore Decleration
but never achieved the goal.
The people of the two countries (Except some extremists) do love each other & want to be friends with their neighbors.

Remove politicians from both sides in the friendship building process, there won't be any discord on any major issue. Why blame others when we (both sides) are short of wisdom and playing on petty games.
Let's be optimistic and hope for the best.

They can never be friends. It's for sure as the stakes are very high for many players...Pak will be the first loser with PEACE. International arms dealers are the next to lose. India is the biggest gainer from peace as it is losing $Billions on defence expenditure. No one likes that..including USA. It is no winner no loser situation. SAD.

If India and Pakistan became friends the army,intillegence and the islamic radicals in Pakistan will become jobless.All the donations that they receive in the name of Jihad will stop forever.

the solution is islam.
in islam there are no borders so kashmir will be a mute issue.
whats keeping them at odds is pure western induced faux nationalism.
islam overcomes that also.
