This is the second time I am asking this question. I asked it first in the cancer section but think it probably belongs here in the alternative medicine section instead. I read in some Chinese medical journals that they had the most success with cancer remissions when they combined Chinese Herbal Medicine and Western Chemo. Have any of you had any personal experience with this kind of thing?

Dear People, For those of you who expressed their concern and gave their advice, I thank you very much. It never occurred to me when I asked my question that so many of you would conclude that I had cancer and then out of the goodness of your hearts. tell me about treatments you thought would help me. I do NOT have cancer, thank the Lord, but I do know several people who have, including my brother who had suffered off and on for many years with lymphoma and had been treated with chemo but it wasn't until he started to take Chinese herbs that he finally went into remission. I believe very strongly in the efficacy of Chinese medicine to cure cancer as well as to strengthen the immune system and wanted to learn how other people felt about that. So once again, I thank each one of you for sharing what you believe with me. It will be difficult to pick the best answer but I will do the best I can. May you all be blessed for your kindness.

I have a doctor of chinese medicine for asrhma. I asked him your question. They do treat cancer with herbs and diet. Traditional medicine is very toxic to the whole system while Chinese medicine is healing. You need to find a very knowledgable practitioner and ask if he will work with Western treatments. Alternative treatments are frequently sought when its too late.

Hi there
I would personally suggest you read up about all herbal products. A lot of Chinese herbalist is not professional herbalist, they order the products, rent a shop and whala. I do belief that herbal remedies work. a Book I found very use full is Encyclopedia of Medicinal plants.
If the cancer is curable then go ahead with the chemo. If it is to prolong the persons time then I would say don't. My husbands father had lung cancer. It is a long sad road. When he started with the chemo he got a lot worse. You loose your appetite, you vomit so youdeidrate on such a fast paste that your body just crash. Have you considerd spiruatal Healing. They might not be abele to cure you but to help your mind to work fro the problem.

I think Chinese Herbs will help, but practising qigong would be better. (Qigong is an ancient Chinese breathing exercise - in China's hospitals people taking Chemo have to practise qigong for 6 weeks (I think) prior to the Chemo - qigong builds up the immune system so that recovery is quicker)

Cancer was once described to me like this:-
A cancer cell is a rebel cell - it starts as a normal cell then decides to break away from the normal behaviour of a cell - at which point it dies - ie loses all it's oxygen content, but it has a strong will to continue....so it starts a process of wet fermentation and reproduces itself, breaking away from the behaviour of a normal cell, like a fungus it lives on other healthy cells - it acts irratically and reproduces faster than a normal cell - forming what we call 'cancer'. In that particular area of the body the oxygen level is usually low - which means the cancer cells are not curbed from growing and the healthy cells do not have the 'back-up' to fight back..

Our body has energy channels (meridians )- which, when functionining properly help to pass oxygen into the cells and the blood. When these pathways are strong then renegade cancer cells are in effect 'dried up' by the oxygen and therefore kept in line.

Qigong works with these energy lines and acu-points strenthening and repairing their function.

If you do a web search - 'qigong and cancer' you will find many examples to look through.

However Qigong is not fast it's a slow process of practising for as long as you are able to every day. Starting with 10mins a day and builing up slowly to even 4 hours a day to clear cancer. People say it can be done, but I expect it depends how far the cancer has gone. Though they do say if you are healthy and practise qigong every day you will not get cancer.

Qigong will certainly aid recovery after chemo.

You do need a good qigong teacher though. If you go to a Chinese Medical Centre they may be able to recommend one to you.

There have been numerous documented cases of Cancer remissions using Qi Qong or Chi Kung
Its an ancient Chinese breathing exercise.
I am familiar with some in Australia but it you look in some Alternative Medicine journals you should be able to find some practitioners in your area.

Have you checked out the mangosteen fruit yet? It contains Xanthones - one of which out performed 5 out of 6 chemo drugs for total kill of cancer cells. The specific Xanthone was Garcinone E.
You can also go to the American Cancer Society & Sloan Kettering Cancer Center websites and check all alternative medicines for effectiveness and safety

My father turned to Chinese Herbalist when he was given 1 year to live with Hep C. The Dr.s in San Francisco called the Dr.s at UCLA to come and examine him after 1 year because he was in total remission AND all cirrhosis of the liver was gone. He has now been given a clean slate after 5 years.

Yes, that's right. If you don't get the answer you want, just keep asking until you find people who will bolster your own opinion.

Those cancer section people knew what they were talking about. There is no herb, no "energy" manipulation and no ancient medicine that has any effect on the growth of DNA-mutated cells. Do not waste your time or your money on anything but the medications and techniques that have actually been proven effective.

Or, take Horny Goat Weed and die. If you'd rather believe the people on Yahoo Answers than your doctors, you probably deserve what you get.
