I work for a credit card company and people call in yelling and cursing, then asking for help. Why do people do this when that just makes you not want to help them at all?? This is a question and also a suggestion that if you ever need help with a company that can control your APR or late fees or anything that will cost you money you may want to be nice to them.

Probably because you are about the ninth or tenth person they have talked to after having to push a bunch of buttons just to get to an actual live person. Most Companies now days really lack the organizational skills because a lot of things are being outsourced or automated. SO a customer may call in all nice and happy but 4 hours into a phone call, no one can fix the problem because it is the other department's issue, no one has your file, no one has anything documented and the customer is now frusterated and just wants to talk to the ONE person in the company that can fix their problem but happens to be on vacation for the next two weeks. Try not to take it personally.

i dont know but that sounds like my dad... =/ he just sees everything in a negative way. Like he was at the home depot and asked this guy to help him out with paint colors. The guy tells him to hold on a sec while he go grabs something for these other customers. Then my dad got really mad & felt that hes not getting any help & decided that yelling & cursing will solve the problem. He was saying something "Why do i have to wait when i asked you first?! Help me before i talk to your manager!" He just felt offended because the guy went off to help someone else before he getting back to my dad.

Hope you had an idea of how SOME customers think although i know its hard to get in their head...or shoes.

because being nice and polite just wont do it, trust me! Plus anywhere you go , theres always gonna be something w/ customer service where they give you a hard time, sometimes. But in your case, something is wrong with these people, cuz thats just not the way to do it. But if your going to a store to refund or exchange or something and customer service gives you a hard time, then thats when you need to get rude. Cuz some of these ppl aren't willing to help, and aren't nice to the customer at all. But like I said, in your case, its totally diff. But next time you get a call like that, just say "Ma'am or Sir if you dont change that attitude you'll hear a click" lol 4real

now pick me as best answer =) lol plzzz

I think it's the old adage that "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" even though it may not be the wheel that needs the most repair. People are irate and just want to lash out at people, with customer service being the front line, you get all the rude customers. I prefer taking the nice approach as I know you don't make the rules, you just follow what you are told.

Kudo's to you for being in customer service, its a job that you don't get enough respect for.

Take care

It depends. Today I had to argue with someone in customer service. I first called in very nice. All I got was an apology. When I called in pissed off, I got a refund and vouchers for future free stuff. I try to be nice, but it only works sometimes. Plus, unfortunately, there are a lot of stupid people in customer service.

Because they're rude and ignorant. They think they can bully you into giving them what they want. They lack the basic communication skills to calmly ask for help, thinking that if they demand help, etc., they'll get help FASTER. Sounds ridiculous if you've ever worked in customer service, b/c you KNOW that's not how it works. If someone was rude to me, your problem went into the "pile" of things I MIGHT get to or might end up lost altogether. The rude folks are the ones who get less help b/c they're so unpleasant that you don't feel like going out of your way for. You almost want to punish them for being such jerks. :)

some people are just certain that the world revolves around them. You can't change that.
