Ah, yes, the old I can't know you unless I know what you do everyday.

I studied the violin for 12 years until my crusty, old teacher made a pass at me when I was 18. YUK. So I quit. I still enjoy classical music very much, though. Just won't play it myself.

Also, playing the violin and practicing so much really creaked my neck and shoulder. Chiropractors love my repeat business because of playing during my development years. So, I really gained nothing except excellent math ability from my studies - for a girl, anyway.

I own and can play a digeridoo but I just got my first drum a couple months ago and am trying to learn how to play it. It's easy in a drum circle because there are many others playing and it sounds good but to make it sound good by yourself is another story and that is what I'm working on.

it would be nice if someone you meet would ask you what instrument you play instead of what you do for a living. i can play by ear on the piano, trumpet and i can sing.

I play the piano. No one asks me that question first, even though I no longer work for a living -- I always hated being asked that pushy question first. Asking first about my job is so pushy, so status-seeking, so self-aggrandizing.
