What game are you talking about. Please tell exact name and console. Without this info its not hard but almost imposable to answer. Unless the king fish is only in one game in that case you better hope someone has played the game you own.

I'm guessing you're refering to the Playstation Harvest Moon, because I think its the only one with 2 caves (am I correct?).
To get your horse to like you, brush and talk to it everyday (this is the same for all the HM games).
In the N64, there are crystals and ore in the cave, and one of those fruits that increase your strength at the bottom. That is probally true for all the games, but I can't be sure.
I'm not sure about the King Fish, but if its true as most of the HM games, you need the best rod available in the game and to fish constantly.
Check gamefaqs.com and enter whichever HM game you have and you can find more specific answers.

to get your to liek you, you have to ride him alot, and brush him with the brush
