Alright. My husband and I have a ton of Magic the Gathering cards that are completely old school but we are looking to sell them. Where do you think would be the best place to get the most money? (outside of ebay). Are the more companies out there that buy cards over the internet, such as you send them the cards, and they send you a check?

Also, how do you tell what cards are which, revised and such. I am sure most of them are the 3rd, 4th, maybe the 5th editions, but we don't really know which is which.

Any information would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

Outside of Ebay you have 3 options. Sell them to a card shop, sell them to a player, or sell that to a vendor at the flea market. Out of the 3 the players will give you the most money. Shop owners and flea market vendors will only give you between 1/4 and 1/3 of the value. They have to make a profit after all. Players will give you 1/2 the value most times but will pay up 3/4 for certain cards. I suggest cataloging your cards before you try to sell them. That way no one spends a hour wading through your stuff for a Sol Ring you *think* you have. Also, buy a price guide. They tell you the general prices of cards but they also tell you the rarity of them. Alot of the early Magic cards have nothing to denote rarity so things can get confusing. Scrye is pretty good.

Magic has the most expensive cards. I dont even play it, I play yugioh and that could get expensive. But the fan base for pokemon is small and yugioh can go under at any time. Magic has been around for like 13 years and isnt gonna die anytime soon. I would go with that if I could start again.

I wonder why you said 'not Ebay'. Any company that buys from you is going to take their cut before selling to a buyer. I haven't bought or sold any cards for quite a while, but when i was last active (many years ago) there were 'book' prices for most cards. You're not going to get book from a reseller - they have to make a cut.

I sold several cards on eBay & they did pretty well. You can also get a magazine with an up to date price list but if you search the card name on eBay you can get a feel for the current prices :) Hope this helps.

Ebay is the best way (I have made very good money selling MTG cards on Ebay). But if you email me a list of what you have and how much you want, maybe we can make a deal. jimi61280@yahoo.com

I would sell to a collector or card shop- but catalogue carefully to see what you have. The official website keeps a database called Gatherer which lists all cards and you can check any symbols with them.

don't go to a store they rip you off real bad,
ebay is the best bet, or
go to a game store that host magic tournaments and put up flairs or something of that sort

how many u have and how old, i might want them?
